lets share some hunting trip story's.

Well the last few hunting trips have been rough for killing rabbits. Weather got warmer here in Ohio had high expectations for putting rabbit on the dinner table but rabbits not staying up long before they go to holes. Hope that is due to my dogs runnin so well and making rabbits feel the pressure(at least that is what i am telling myself) and as for dinner OH WELL just love to get dogs out to run more than anything. Wife went on her first hunting trip with me and even though no shots she said she really enjoyed it.

Same Thing Here In WV.After All The Snow Good To Get Out But Rabbits Not Cooperating Jumped 7 Longest Run About 10 Minutes All Going Straight To Holes.Hope They Feel Like Running Next Weekend I Sure Would Like To Pull The Trigger.

Where are you guys located? I live in Ohio and I visit WV often. It would be nice to get together and run some. Steve, I will see you in KY the 3rd week in Feb.   -  Jim

Hey Guys, Here in Ky our season is coming to a end this weekend. BUMMER! but it has been a good year, for me anyway. My potlickers and me hunted alot on Fort Knox, a little trouble to get in but its only about a half hour from my house and has lots of area to hunt. Rabbits seemed to be up this year and running was good most of the time. Hate to see season end but now I'll have time to get my two puppies I got from Jim Lane started and feed them LOTS of rabbit tracks and get them ready for next season. Let the fun begin!

Small world! My great-uncle was a pastor of a church in Birchwood TN.{Church of God of Prophecy} Roy Martin is his name. He is retired now, but he has slayed many rabbits over the years. And as a matter of fact, I do come down there all the time. My mother lives in Cleveland, TN.

Ever since I looked at your website and saw your dogs and their pedigrees I thought How I would like to have that kind of bloods. Well may be possible after all. By the way I cant think of where that church is. Seems like ive heard that name before (Roy Martin) where does he live? . I bought my dogs from a guy in cleveland. His name is Terry James.Him and his dad have been breeding for fifty years or more.They are Holly Ridge Kennels. When you come back down to Cleveland I would like to meet up and talk a little while if you have time. And im serious about a couple of pups.     Later,Bobby

Jim, Thrid weekend in Feb. sounds great. Just let me know time and place and I'll be there. Don't know if I'll have the dog power to hang just yet but, I"m working on it. It will be great to get to see Dingus go. Is Roxie or Rosie going to be there? By the way my little female is doing great and getting lots of attention from my little girl. Her name is coming down to one of these, either "Jadys Let her run Lila"  or " Jadys Getting it done Gracie" we are still trying to decide.

The church was either on or right off Grasshopper Road. He was the pastor there around 18 years. He lives directly off HWY 60. I don't know Terry James. But when I do come that way, I will contact you. Just email me your contact information.

Yes I do visit Larry from time to time, but again, it is a small world...lol... My mom and Dad are from Cedar Grove, WV and Shrewsbury, WV. They were born around 1938 and went to East Bank High School. I still have family all around that area, which I need to visit more often. I would like to stop in with a few dogs and run some time.

Hey Jim, I live about 1/4 mile off grasshopper on dolly pond rd and if its the church im thinking of it is just about 1/2 mile from my house. Does Roy do any rabbit hunting now? And does he have any beagles? Maybe I could run with him some if he does. Or possibly take him hunting if he doesnt. Ill try to pm you my #,s.

ok this happen to me yesterday, been sick all week so come Sunday i decided to take the dogs out. we ran a couple right strait to holes. not to good of a day.we were getting ready to go somewhere else when we see someone coming down a deer trail towards us. it was a young guy out rabbit hunting with a redtailed hawk! we talked for awhile & he put on a little demonstation for us. it was neet. this kid was maybe 15 or 16. said he traines 1 a year. he traps a hawk in the fall, trains & hunts it the turns it loose in spring & starts over again in the fall. he haqs a permit for this. this was the most interesting thing i`d seen in awhile. iv`e seen it on tv but never in person. said it takes about 2 weeks of training before you hunt them. he was a very polite  & surely not a windbag. it was great, for awhile i even forgot my dogs were with me i was so taken by this young guy. im gonna look him up & talk more at length with him.

Did the hawk bring him the rabbit?

no he was scared of the dogs. did get a squirrel. they dont retrieve them , just kill them. he has to go take it.
